What Art Materials Do I Need For Drawing Essentials?

I use a set of Staedtler Mars Lumograph 100 pencils but brand isn't important. Any drawing or sketching pencils from an art store or Amazon will do.

A set of 6 is plenty, sometimes it's as cheap to buy a set of 12. 

Make sure you get softer pencils (i.e. ranging from HB to a 6B or higher).

Avoid carbon pencils or "black' pencils for this course, as these are difficult to erase. 

Your sketchbook is where you'll complete all of your lesson practices.

It should be a drawing or sketching pad rather than a watercolour or mixed media pad (the smoother surface of a drawing sketchbook is nicer to work on and less expensive!). 🙌

Go for US Letter / A4 size (about 12 x 9 inches).

Every sketchbook of this size will have plenty of pages.

Any brand will do - go for what's affordable and available in your part of the world.

• A kneadable eraser (any brand)
• A regular plastic erase (any brand)
• A good pencil sharpener and if you want to treat yourself try the Derwent Superpoint Mechanical Sharpener
• A ruler
